They will have a record of what he said previously.  From the way you phrased it above you may run the risk of making them think you’ll say anything to get a visa.

So should we say that he requires the visa for his job and lately we are planning to visit parents that's why I need visa. 

 

How to phrase the purpose??

Thank you everyone for valuable recommendations, I have few questions though:

 

- on DS 160 form should I mention that I would accompany him

- For him it will B1 and for me it will be B2

- As he requires visa for his job, and I just want to visit USA. So should we say his employer wants him to apply for visa and I want to visit USA or my in laws ???
