Hello guys!

I am in the process of bringing my fiancée to the United States. Her interview is this month, actually! Anyways, I had a quick question about the poverty guidelines? I live at home with my parents and my sister (including me, that would mean 4 people live at my house). My parents own the house. What is the poverty guideline amount that I should be looking for? I only claim myself on my taxes.

I am looking at the link above. I do not know how to comprehend it. Would you guys be so kind and shed some light onto my question? ANY help or advice will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

If you just claim yourself on taxes your household count would be 2 (you and fiancee).

Oh? So, when my fiancée comes, we will be a total of 5 people at home. However, the count for me would be 2, is what you mean, right?

Household count does not refer to people who live in a house.  It's based on people who are financially dependent on each other with taxes.  If you were claimed on your parent's taxes this would be different, but you file your taxes independently so you are your own household regardless of you live with 100 friends and family or on your own.

I see! Thank you for your helpful input, I truly appreciate it. ^_^
