Hello all,

My wife petitioned her mother and father to come to the USA.  We just received their interview date in Guangzhou, China.

We're gathering the information that her parents will need to bring with them for the interview.  I'm reviewing the checklist.  I have a few questions and appreciate the feedback.

1. Affidavit of Support (we submitted I-864 and I-864a to NVC)

Do we need to send another form signed?  or can we submit a copy?  Luckily, I made a copy of both forms.

2. We submitted the past 3-years of IRS tax transcripts to NVC (didn't submit 2017 tax return/transcript because I didn't file yet but I have filed for 2017 recently)

Should I include our 2017 tax transcript/return that I didn't include before to NVC?

3. Evidence of relationship

What do we need to include? My wife's original birth certificate with both her parents name on it, notarized.  Anything else?

Thank you in advance!!!

1. Since the i-864 was already submitted it won't be needed at the interview

2. Since NVC approved the I-864 (as submitted) you should be good to go

YMMV

For the Pre-Interview Checklist, it says to submit a signed I-864 and I-864a if applicable with supporting tax information.  I assume this is to bring with them to the visa interview.  Why is this required when we already submitted it to NVC and they already set up the interview date?

If they have to bring the affidavit of support with them to the interview.  Can they bring a copy of it or do we have to sign another one?

The checklist is a genetic one that’s used for a multitude of circumstances. Not everyone in China goes through the NVC as some cases are handled by the DCF route and such applicants take the I-864 and supporting financial information to the interview with them. Those who have been through the NVC don’t need to do this as the NVC forwards this stuff to the embassy.
