Hi all! My petition for my mom has been approved recently. What is our next step?

My mom does not have a passport yet and it has been difficult to get an appointment on DFA website for passport application. I check everyday if slots will open and have had no luck. We live in Manila and I have checked all 6 locations around Metro Manila and have not gotten lucky of getting an appointment for my mom. I found couple slots available but once I clicked on it, the times will be "full" and it won't let me go to the next page.

Once again fixxers have gummed up the DFA appointment system.    Find a fixxer .. get an appt .. for a fee.  Which is totally wrong!

As for next step; the petition will be forwarded to NVC where you will provide support evidence plus a few other things.  They will contact you.

I forgot one question.  What is the age of your mom?  Seniors do not need an appointment.

NO APPOINTMENT IS NEEDED for the following:

  1. OFW with sufficient proof of status such as iDOLE Card, valid employment contract (authenticated by POEA), and work visa
  2. Senior Citizen with Senior Citizen ID
  3. Person with Disability (PWDs) with PWD ID or visible disability
  4. Solo Parent with Valid Solo Parent ID
  5. Pregnant women with medical certificate
  6. Minors seven (7) years old and below

You may avail of the OFW LANE or PRIORITY LANE at DFA Aseana or at any DFA Satellite Office or Regional Consular Office to apply for your passport.

It has been my experience with my gal that if your mom is willing to show up and wait in line there is a very good chance that she will be taken care of...

My mom tried the walk in yesterday and got rejected

She is only gonna be 50 y/o.

Same issue with my MIL,  told her to just pay the fixer for the appointment.

The bigger issue we had was her BC said "Male" for whatever reason.  Of course Manila couldn't fix it, they made her go to Bataraza for a doctor to look at her and verify she's female (sorry only issuing province can change, sir ma'am).  Then a month of sitting around processing paperwork.

Its Fun in the Philippines :)

Ah .. too young for the senior treatment.

DFA says to not use a fixer, yet they let them "steal" all the appt openings.  What is a person to do?
