Hello everyone, I'm filling the IV application which is the form DS-260 and I'm feeling really lost right now. So my husband (petitioner) is living in Germany because he is an Active Duty Military of U.S Army. This year he is supposed to move back to USA because his time there it is done but the thing is...his commander didn't say anything yet and he is waiting the answer to get everything done and move. So I'm at the the part that asks for a permanent address which is the address of the applicant intend to live after arrives in USA. If we don't have an address yet, what should we fill on this part?

I also have to say that when we started the process and we sent the form I-130 to USCIS AND BACK THEN on the question  "18. Address in the United States where your relative intends to live:" we filled the address of our friend that still lives there. Is that a problem? If not, should I repeat the address of our friend?

Will you guys live at that address at first? Even if it's for a few weeks? Then I would use that address. They will also mail your green card to that address. Otherwise I'm not sure how people fill that in without knowing where they're gonna live. Is there an option to skip it or do you have to fill that part in? I can't remember if that was an option.

Hey truelove thank you for always helping me! Well, probably we will to spend maybe one week or two to rent our apartment but not for so long. And yes, I know the GC will be mailed to that address (I'm more calm because I know it is our friend that lives there). The thing is I can't skip this part, I have to fill that. I'm really feeling lost because I wan to finish it ASAP and get my interview date.

Ok...I would use that address then, if that's where you'll go first. We'll be doing something similar...staying with my parents...but for a few months until we settle & get our own place.

I'm not sure what that is...is that the physical address you're at now with your spouse? I don't think it will recognize it...but I really don't know anything about military addresses. Maybe start a different thread about that. Sorry!

You're welcome! It looks like it thinks it's a PO Box address & not a physical address...maybe that's why it's not accepting it?? But hopefully someone else can help you!

Hello guys! How are you? I hope everyone is ok. I really need some help right now about my DS-260/IV application online on NVC website. My husband is stationed in Germany because he is an Active Duty Military in U.S. Army and his address is:

CMR 000 BOX 000

City: APO

State: AE

Zip Code: 00000

the problem is we are filling the DS-260 online (IV application) and the part on FAMILY INFORMATION: SPOUSE, it asks for his address like this.

Spouse's address: (it gives me some options which are)

- Same as present address

- Same as intended U.S. address

- Don't know

- Other (specify address)

When I choose to put "other (specify address)", it asks for us to fill the address but there is an warning saying "P.O. box numbers are not allowed". (You guys will see on the image below). So we don't know what to do at this point. We are feeling really lost right now. What are we suppose to do?

OBS: Also our intended U.S. address (Where the applicant will go after arrival) that we answered back on the form is our friend's address because we don't have a place there YET. The thing is...my husband is done about his duty station there but his commander didn't answer him yet to get everything done and he moves. So right now he is in Germany waiting his commander answer if he will go or he will stay there for one more year (this confusion was cause between his old unit and the actual unit).

My husband didn't have any issues filling out his address when being stationed abroad.
Have you called the military helpline?

Hey thank you for helping me. Well, we didn't call the helpline. But did you fill this form online too? Your husband was living in barracks like mine is? And did he put the address like what I posted? I'm feeling lost! I think I will to wait for monday and then call the NVC.

Ofcourse! Military spouses have to help each other! We didn't do it online actually :/  He had an AE address.
The best thing would be to call them. How long are his orders for in Germany?

If you're husband possibly can't go to the U.S. for another year...then you might want to delay the process until you find out. NVC will keep your case active for one year. You can hold off on submitting documents until you know when you can move. If you go to the interview & get your visa...it's only good for 6 months (from the date you do the medical).

Yes, then it is the same address like ours. As I posted above, it is an AE address. Well, he was suppose to move this year but the confusion between his old unit and the actual one is a mess right now. He is waiting his commander to answer the documents that was sent to them about it. He was suppose to move back to USA on March 10, 2018.
