Petitioner Change of Address

After reading many posts on this question, I still do not feel that an answer has been agreed upon. If the petitioner moves (in my case from New York to Arizona) before the fiance has arrived in the US (he's waiting for an interview date), does the petitioner need to notify anyone?

From what I can tell, the I-865 is for sponsors - a stage I don't think we're at yet. The USCIS does keep close tabs on the address of the beneficiary, I've read. Do I need to somehow transfer from the Vermont Service Center to the California Service Center or will everything go through because our application is currently at the US Embassy in London stage?

If you are at the Embassy stage, as stated, forget about the change of address just now. At least for the Embassy piece, it is about your Fiance's address.

When you adjust status, change the target address, in the forms.

If I were you I would do a change of address HERE, as well as try to let the embassy overseas know about it too. Just to be safe. I rather over do stuff than NOT to, and have problems down the road.

Good luck!!!

I know some people prefer the belt AND suspenders approach. Sometimes I do to. In this process it is generally not good to unnecessarily rock the boat. Neither the Embassy or USCIS is going to mail the petitioner anything at this stage of the process. I would simply put the new address on the AOS filing when you do it. The applicant/beneficiary is the focus at this stage. Don't do anything to change that focus until after US entry.

I moved shortly after we received NOA2 and before he got his Embassy interview date. I didn't fill in any special form with USCIS, just put in a signed statement with the documents I sent to support his interview (the affidavit of support) to notify them that my address had changed. Then when we filed for AOS, we used the new address.

Now, I'm not saying that's the correct way to go about it because there may be a certain process, but I believe that it's more important for the beneficiary to notify them of a change of address formally (through forms) than the petitioner. Here's what USCIS says:

https://egov.immigration.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa

"Customers who have an application and/or petition which has been filed with USCIS but has not yet been decided (also known as a 'pending' case) should notify USCIS of any change of address as soon as possible after moving.

The law requires nearly all non-U.S. Citizens1 to report a change of address within 10 days of moving by completing a Form AR-11. Abiding by these legal requirements and completing the necessary forms does not update an address on any applications or petitions pending with USCIS. Non-citizens with pending cases must do both."

So, basically because your petition has been approved (is not pending any longer) and you are the USC, I don't think you need to inform USCIS. If you wanted to be safe, you can do a change of address online easily enough.

USCIS Online Change of Address

Introduction

Customers who have an application and/or petition which has been filed with USCIS but has not yet been decided (also known as a 'pending' case) should notify USCIS of any change of address as soon as possible after moving.

The law requires nearly all non-U.S. Citizens1 to report a change of address within 10 days of moving by completing a Form AR-11. Abiding by these legal requirements and completing the necessary forms does not update an address on any applications or petitions pending with USCIS. Non-citizens with pending cases must do both.

Most customers can now notify USCIS to change their address on a pending case online here on our website. Non-citizens can also now complete the Form AR-11 online here on our website.

If you choose to change your address online using our Online Change of Address Notification tool, you will need to have some information available. Please have the following information available before you begin:

Your receipt notice or other notice we sent you showing your receipt number (if you have a pending case with USCIS).

Your new address

Your old address

If you have filed a petition for a family member, please have the names and biographical information for that person.

When you last entered the United States (if you cannot remember this information please fill in an approximate date)

Where you last entered the United States (through what port of entry you entered - whether by land, sea or air)

I didnt read all the replies to your message, but thought I would share my experience with the change of address. AR_11 change of address for beneficiery does not effectively change the address in any pending case. meaning when your fiance enters the country, the GC will still be mailed to your old address. What you should do, is that when you fill ar-11 on line, it asks you whether you have a pending case, say yes, and it will ask you that whther the pending case is for US citizen, the answer is no, and then it asks you for your receipt number and such. that will effectively change your address, and on top of that I suggest colling USCIS, and try to talk to an immigration officer and ask for change of address. the process will take about 30-45 days. I delayed changing the address due to lack of information, and theGC was mailed to the old address. Now I have to file 1-90 again. good luck,
