How serious are traffic violations considered when they determine if you will be granted citizenship? I am eligible to apply next month however 2 years ago and in August last year I received a ticket for not stopping at a red light (stupid I know but I thought I could make it) and then a month later I received a ticket for failing to move out of the way for an emergency vehicle (I pulled to left as I was in left lane of a 4 lane street not realizing you had to at all times pull to the right) I saw that someone was asked about traffic citations in their interview so now I'm panicked

You have to declare them, but as long as there was just a fine, and as long as it was under $600, they don't really care.  Get a record of the incidents, along with the final disposition of the case, and you should be fine...

I had a ticket and was asked about it at the interview - and then it was promptly forgotten about...

Thank you! California fines are ridiculously expensive but I believe all of them were $480 each

Apparently California is specific about where to pull over...  NY permits you to go to either side as long as the roadway is one-way and at least 3 lanes wide, though from a practical point of view - make room for them...  :)

I was surprised when the ambulance just kept honking and wouldnt go around me when there were lanes to the right of me completely empty, I was so confused. Unfortunately a cop just happened to be behind them (not even following them, completely unrelated and saw whole thing) I was so upset because I had no idea I was doing anything wrong. The red licket tickets ofcourse I knew I was being stupid trying to catch a light before it changed but this rule i had no idea about.

I had one speeding ticket and one ticket for failure to stop at stop sign since I've been  driver in this country  (since 2005). I disclosed both tickets in my application, I wrote two brief paragraphs explaining the tickets and I attached proof of their payment. The IO only casually confirmed tickets and didn't ask for any details. I didn't have any issues with those tickets.  Be honest about them and you won't have any problems.

In Illinois I went to the DMV and got a "driving record"  which lists all the things Illinois' Driver Services knew about me and accompanied it with my N400 application
