Hello everyone,

I have been reading what I can (thanks to everyone who posts!), but it looks like submitting a medical summary is a new requirement - only added last year. My petition is still pending, but I wanted to be as prepared as possible.

I wasn't sure what a medical summary consisted of, but I spoke with my GP and it goes back as far as 2006. Is this really what the medical examiners want to see, or do they want to see "current" issues / medications etc.?

Purely trying to get my prep in order as have had mental health problems in the past, I want to be sure I give them all of the information they need (if my petition is approved).

I would be really grateful for any advice / information.

Many thanks,

Lisa

Hi! I also have a UK fiance and I've been doing a lot of research on the medical process as well. What they are looking for is a patient summary so I'm sure what your GP suggested is what you need. You should also be able to apply for yours online through the website for your GP.

I've seen a few forum posts about this and as a precaution I would get a letter from your GP stating that any mental health issues have been resolved (whether it be to current medication or prior) and that you are of no harm to yourself or others. I only suggest this because I have seen people on the regional forum have to go back to their GP after their medical exam for a similar letter.

Here are the local forums with much more information on the UK medical! Good luck. :D

Thank you, and thank you for the link :)

Yes this is what I have been aiming to do.  Annoyingly, my surgery doesn't give you access to the summary online; only allergies, current medications, and vaccination record.

For anyone else who may also get confused / paranoid:

I contacted them directly, they advised they want the full patient care summary (regardless of how far it goes back) but that it should be no more than 10 pages. They reiterated further that the summary is not medical history.

Thanks again!
