Yes, based on 3 year marriage.  We are a same sex couple. You will have to answer certain questions based on five years for it to accept your answer. It's not a problem.

I applied online based on marriage in Nov ‘17 and paid with a credit card. It’s easy to do and saves you the cost and TIME of sending documents to a mailbox. Besides paper filers seem to be getting their documents scanned and converted to electronic. You might as well do it for yourself. Check a few of the monthly subforums here, most in the Jan & Feb 2018 groups filed online. Good luck.

The website tells you what is required and you can add-on as many other documents to support your case as you please. The absolutes are your Green Card and marriage certificate if it is marriage based.

Yes.

Many however, upload more evidence such as recent taxes, joint bank statements etc. If you have them and want to add them, go ahead.

Has anyone applied for citizenship online?

if yes

How did it work? is it better than mailing it? and how did you make the payment?

Thanks a lot

Yes indeed. I applied for my relative who was in a marriage for over 20 years (talk about procrastination). I took matters into my own hands and applied for him. Fantastic process and very easy to follow directions and graphics. Also, I do believe it is faster since the timelines they gave for the processing was about 6 six too long. In two shorts months he was scheduled for his interview followed exactly a month later by the Swearing in.

I also started the process of applying for my same-sex spouse too.We are off by a month, but wanted to get the entry all set to hit the submit button on the 90 day period.

...I use the word fantastic for my relative....yes I know...not a word one hears about the USCIS...but I suppose wait until everyone does it online..then we will see the delays!!

I filed online. We have a personal printer/scanner and most documents like Turbo Tax and bank statements are available in PDF. After you complete the application, when you are ready to pay you will be taken to an external site called pay.gov and you pay by credit card.

You receive email updates and copies of your NOA and biometrics appointment. Love that you can upload more supporting documents if needed, even after you have submitted the application.
