Why would this person need to complete a Report of Marriage when all they did was a court process to legally change their name and would like their Philippine passport renewed in this new name?

Sadly, I doubt the Philippines would recognize the name change completed in the USA.

I think you are correct in that they would not recognize the US court name change and hence that is why a ROM would be needed because they would recognize that.

EDIT....yeah no marriage mentioned, oops!!....not sure about that then.....

HUH????    You are saying because this person completed a court process to change his name legally that he should complete a REPORT OF MARRIAGE ???

Read his post ... marriage was NOT mentioned and one doesn't need a court process to change their name when married.   And to A$$-u-me is never a good thing.  ;)

"Good day! I don't know which forum topic should I post my query, I just put it on general discussion. I would like to ask how to change my surname of my unexpired Philippine passport after approval by court (court order on hand) regarding change of name? Will the Philippine consulate honor the court order given by the court here in US? Or is it okay to have my Philippine passport's name different form my green card (currently processing change of name on my green card)? Would there be any problem when using my passport under my prior name and green card under my current name when I travel to PHIL-USA back and forth?? Thanks..."

That's what I am saying is the post was kinda vague so like always we are left scratching our heads like what the hell.

Post wasn't vague.

1)  Completed a name change in a U.S. court

2) Wanted to know if we thought the Philippines would recognize this court process.  (highly doubtful)

3) Wanted to know if having his green card and Philippine passport in two different names would be an issue  (where I suggested carrying a copy of his court order for international travel)

Yeah... You hit my point Hank... Change of Name thru Philippine court though takes YEARS to finish...If that's the case, I will just wait for my naturalization so that US passport will match my current name without the expense of changing name thru Philippine court...

In addition, Hank, I would like to ask, if you know by any chance, what should be the name on my ticket if ever I would travel with different name on my passport and GC? Should I follow the name on my passport (prior name)?

Name on your ticket must match the name in your passport .. exactly.

How far are you from applying for Naturalization?

Hmmm... will take me 4.5 years to file my Naturalization if circumstances come in my favor. It would be easy for me to change my name though during the Naturalization process but I can't wait that long. I do only have plans to travel (2 times) outside US  for the period of 4.5 years that's why my major concern is my Philippine passport under my prior name (for travel purposes).

You have only been in the USA about 6 months?

Hope none of your stays outside the USA will be for very long.
