HI EVERYONE

HAVE A QUESTION who decides point of entry????? i,m askin this because when i,v came to visit my SO, iv came into toronto

and hes picked me up and drove backover the border via buffalo!! this would be alot easier for us both if i can do this again with my k1. can u help???? oh and by the way bryan flies into not so sunny scotland next wednesday cant believe it, weve been havin great weather for weeks and the heavens are about to open at weekend gggrrr

well at least we,ll have each other for a week cant wait

In most cases you do based on your planned travel. Your POE will be at the point you first arrive (step foot) in the US except from Canadian Airport at which you will pre-clear in Canada just prior to departure on a US bound flight

You do! Or at least you choose what flight you want, and that'll tell you where your POE is.

Just a small word of warning though, my husband did his K1 entry at Toronto Pearson, and had a WRETCHED experience. I'm sure that wasn't the case for everyone (or even most) but we will never travel through CBP at Toronto Pearson again.

THANKS FWAGUY AND BE BOP, ur replies are appreciated. i flew into toronto pearson and got a guy with attitude last time i was over in dec, apparently because i put on my little card thingy that i was staying in canada for week and when he asked where i was going i said rochester ny . so he arrogantly asked me why i had put staying in canada for week oops silly me

WHAT DO I PUT ON THAT LITTLE CARD WHEN IM ASKED HOW LONGI,M IN CANADA FOR AND DO I EXPLAIN ABOUT K1 VISA AND THAT IM GOIN THROGH THE CANADIAN AMERICAN BORDER????? YES I KNOW THE ANSWER TO THE FIRST PART BUT JUST WANT IT CLARIFIED THANKS

Since you are staying in Canada for only the amount of time it takes to drive through to Buffalo, I would put that your staying for about 8 hours or so. Canadian Customs and Immigration only needs to know that. They do not need to you plan on immigrating to the US. They only want to know your length of stay in Canada.

I'm going to sound caution here.

There is one potential problem with using Pearson (and proceeding to Peace or Rainbow Bridge) when doing activation-entry of K-1--that of having a one-way into Canada (I won't assume that CIC officials will buy the story of only planning to be in Canada for only 8 hours).

So, if you can find a return-fare cheaper than the one-way, just put in a shaganappi return date within the fare's restrictions--which at the least, will past muster with the CIC officials @ YYZ. Other alternative, if it's slightly higher (but not double the one-way), "eat" the difference.
