My wife has a state ID that was issued over 2 years ago but still hasn't gotten a driver's license. If she gets a DL now or before her interview, obviously it is going to have a recent issue date. During the citizenship interview when they ask for your drivers license would it raise any red flags if she turned in her state ID as well as drivers license or just state ID. I think they check for this to make sure you have lived in the state for at least 3 months before you apply for citizenship. 

 

We have a ton of other evidence that she lived in the state (apartment lease, utility bills etc) to prove it or do you recommend us to wait to get a DL for her until she is thru her interview? 

 

Any thoughts?

I would just submit the state ID. It's just as good as a drivers license, since it was issued by the same authority.  (As long as it hasn't expired).

They don't specifically ask for DL, they ask for a photo ID which is the State ID in your wife's case while it could be DL in other people's case. So, no need to go thru DL process for citizenship interview.
