I can check Monday for sure, but I am 90 percent positive you can get your certificate the same day. The trick to help you out is set-up your marriage license online before you get to the License bureau in Las Vegas. You can input all your information into the computer before you arrive there saving time, and getting everything in the computer. When you show up you both have to show ID's still, but it's a really quick process to verify everything matches you submitted online. Show up in the morning to get your license, then they have 1-2 courtrooms set-up just for marriage ceremonies that have basically walk in and get married now. Then all the judge will do is click his mouse on the computer, and you can walk down to the License bureau and pick up copies of your marriage certificate. they are 15.00 each last time I checked. But I do believe same day is possible, next day for sure if you wanted to do a night in Vegas for the honeymoon, try your luck at the slots, etc. Good luck, and have a good time. I have checked into this also because it is my plan once my fiancee gets here on her K1, use LAX as POE, drive back to Vegas, not sure if we will do the drive thru wedding for some flair, or the courthouse like you are planning.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

My advice is, get the SS done before marriage and marry before the 90th day. It doesn't really matter as far as I know but it is always good to know that you are still under the legal terms and that you have time to apply for the AOS. I married on the 15th of July and I sent my AOS package on the 1st of August. My visa wasn't expiring until the 14th of September.

Well this What i thought. That if we do it at the bureau that we can get the certificate there and then. But if you can check that would be awesome.

the plan is to do a more spectacular church one a few years down the line when we can afford one

Yes, The marriage license bureau is in the same building as the courthouse. License bureau is on the back side and has it's own entrance, the front has the courtrooms where you have to do the standard show ID, metal detectors, etc. Unless they have a separate courtroom set-up for weddings on the license bureau side, I am not sure, but I don't think so. but everything is in the same building, so a same day marriage certificate I think would be possible. But I will ask on Tuesday, I think Monday is a holiday so I may not be downtown, but will check.

What is SS?

Sorry I meant SSN which means Social Security Number. I heard of a lot of people having trouble getting it after marriage. What I did back in June when I arrived was pretty much after a week or 2 (because it takes a while for your info to get into the basis) is go to the Social Security Office and apply for my SSN. They send it to you through mail not long after. You will need the number for insurance purpose and other stuff.

Sorry it took a while, but I was able to check on the Marriage Certificate. It is possible to get it the same day if you are lucky enough. The rules say that it will be available the next day after 9am. I talked to a few employees at the bureau, and they said if you get married in the morning and come back at around 4pm there is a possibility you can get it same day. This all depends on the employee you get. some can be a stickler for the rules and say come back tomorrow, though some told me they had a few nice couples come by the same day later in the afternoon, and they gave them their certificate. So, I guess if your nice and say I really need to get back to work the next day, and was trying to get home that night as long as you are nice I am sure you can get it the same day. Worst case is you can get it the next morning when they open. But even then, one day to get the certificate is pretty fast. Most places it takes a few weeks minimum, and you are forced to order it online only.

Thanks for asking for me I really appreciate it.

our ceremony is booked for 6.30pm on a Saturday. Only time my partner, in laws can get off work. Also allows for my parents to fly in. Do you think this next day principle counts on a weekend?

I would think so, they are open 7 days a week til midnight. They used to be 24hours, but not long after the Brittany Spears fiasco they started closing at Midnight. Don't think it was that directly, but I am sure they weren't getting that many applicants at 1-5 am, but who knows, and those applicants for the license were probably not in the best shape to be getting married anyway... LOL. Next time I get thru there I will ask about the weekend, but I think you will be ok.

Haha thanks.

as your a resident expert any good restaurants you recommend for whilst I'm there?

Let me know where you were planning on staying( Strip area) or (downtown, Old Vegas, though they have really cleaned it up, lots of remodeled hotels, things to do, I prefer downtown to the strip myself) Let me know if you are like me and always looking for a good deal, or looking at certain price range, and I can make some recommendations. I deliver to many restaurants in Las Vegas, and so do the other guys at work, I can ask and get you some good recommendations for sure. I also drive for Uber on the side for a little extra cash, so I pick up a lot of people from many different dining establishments, and I always ask what they thought of the place. If you are looking for a certain type of food ( Thai, Chinese, good old American burger) let me know.

Also, I see you were thinking 6:30pm, was that going to be at the courthouse? Not sure if they are open that late for weddings, maybe they are. But if you are getting married outside the courthouse whoever does the ceremony for you has 10 days to turn in the proof of marriage( They never take that many days), but if you are in a hurry, let them know, some will let you take the signed paperwork in yourself to " Record" the marriage, or some want to do it themselves because they can get fined if they perform a ceremony and never submit the paperwork ( Though I never figured out how they would get caught, not sure if they have a log book like a notary that can be audited or something), but most will be more than happy to get it turned in ASAP if you ask. Most places have couriers running them down everyday I believe.

The courthouse is the front side of where you get your license. I don't think they are open that late. I know Monday thru Friday they dedicate 2 coutrooms for marriages. It is just a walk in and do it type thing. Let me see if I can get or find some more information about it. I know durring the week you can get your certificate next day for sure. Let me see about the courthouse marriage info.
