Hi my fiance is currently on her AIT and her phase 2 would be in Hawaii. She is an E4 and her orders are no dependent so we know she won't be able to live off base. We are processing a k1 visa and what i wanted to ask is if when i do get my visa, can i POE to Hawaii, get married there, and receive BAH while i'm there in Hawaii with her although she is still living on base? Also if we file for an AOS after getting married in Hawaii, would i be able to leave Hawaii while AOS is in process to travel to let's say, California?

Thanks in advance for the replies!

You can't receive BAH when you live off post alone. You must be married and living together with a military spouse. So save up and let your chain of command know everything. Not keeping them informed can result in UCMJ.

I'm a soldier who went through it 4yrs ago. I had to get an apartment off post with no credit, to show that I could provide for my future wife. I didn't receive BAH until 2 months after we were married. So save up as much money as you can, find a cheap place off post, and as soon as your lease is up you can move on post, together. As longas your married and they are on all the proper documents.
