Just a quick update that me and my wife have been together in the States since the 26th. Things went smoothly with no hitches at all. Much better than I had expected. It's nice that DFW is now a port of entry.

Wife is happy for now, since I'm sure it's feeling like a "field trip". But I know that eventually the home sickeness will really kick-in.

Well your wife must have disliked her homelife heh. :P

My wife has a very loving and closeknit family. Plus her family is quite well to do in VN. There will be quite a few things she will homesick for, I'm sure.

I am pretty sure that she will be homesick especially she is so closed with her family.

I was (and I am still) homesick really bad. It is different when you are used to have your family around you, not only immediate family but also aunts, uncles and cousins and all a sudden you do not have them around you.

Hope it will not be too bad for her!

Working can not kill the homesickness. I tried to work at home and go out to forget the cold weather and the homesickness, but I couldnot forget my relatives and my country although I lived separately from them a long time already.

Everytime, I sit on the car under sunshine and warm weather, I feel such as I'm coming back to Mekong Delta to see my grandparents and to enjoy the food there. Ummm, the mangos, the durian, the rambutan, the pineapple, the banana,.... There are fruits in USA but they are not in good smell and sweet as they are in Vietnam. I really cannot eat the banana here (in USA), there is no smell and no sweet. The pineapple here (in USA) is also terrieble, it's sour. :( The apple and grape are good but I still miss the other fruits.

It's up to the area where your wife is living, if there are a lot of Vietnameses around (such as in California) it may be better.

The only happy thing here is to live with my husband. Life is never perfect, we have to loose somethings to get other things.

Hien, that's a well stated response, good luck :)

Yes, all n all, fruits in VN are better, due to it's location. However, my wife finds very similar tasting fruits in the Korean (H mart) & Vietnamese markets in Northern Virginia. We eat sweet Mango, pineapple ( a little sour) and small bananas similar to VN. Plus, my wife's Bun Bo Hue is better than "Nam Giao" restaurant near the Binh Thanh market in HCMC. I really believe, it's relative to where you live in America.....

see ya,

so far, my wife is not at all homesick. there is sometimes a little guilt. how it is so nice here and her family is struggling in VN.

I also have to chime in that the fruit in Vietnam is 10 Times better than here. my favorite is Than Long (Dragon fruit).

we plan on making another trip to Vietnam in late Oct. so that should help if she does feel a little homesick

Good Times

Thai,

ehhehe, that what you thought heh? Have you hear a lot of horror stories about wife working in the Nail shop? hahah, if you have not then, give it a shot then you will see. How your life will be miserable? Nail Shop is the worst environment to have your love one work in there. There are so many noisy and low class people work there. All they do are 8 and talk on other people business.. If you want trouble, then try it. For me, I will not do that. I dont' want another BS from those crowd of people. Other thing is the health of your love one, cuz those Nail Chemical is not good for the SKin and Health.

Home sickness will take time to cure it.

Yeah, I hear ya . I think I should run some porn sites and have her updated them for me on a daily basic. that way she won't get bored at work and making some good money for the family in NAM . she's been taken care of her family since she was 11 years old. poor chick . I will call her up tonight and ask her to take some computer class. like programming or web designs etc .. tons of money to be made online .

P.s maybe di buon ba'n is another option ....like buy the stuffs for cheap and sell them back for a higher price .

My wife's favorite fruits in Thailand are apples and grapes.... :P We are kicking around the idea of doing the I-130 as well as the K-3 so that she will have the opportunity to make a trip back home soon enough after coming here, though. I don't think she'lll be too homesick, though. Just my guess. Her family is spread out all over the map in Thailand.

#######?????????? Again, if this is your true and true intention and grand plan for the wife, I think it's best to leave her where she is in VIETNAM, not NAM. The only folks who allow to say "NAM" are American VET who fought in Vietnam, IMO!!!! Anyone else who uses it, just showing such a disrespecting attitude toward the country itself.

However, IF you are having a good time and making a joke using Porn site and Nail Salon as your wife's future path of career. It leaves a very bad impression of you and to the extent of your family here and back home, including yourself. Nothing wrong with working and making the money to support and assisting with your family's financial independent. However, please I feel you are putting down many folks who working very long and hard hours at these nail salons, uncalled for!!! You should think of getting yourself and BETTER job than it is right now, so you can support her for at least a few months while she's adjusting to the new environment. Every time you post a comment like this one, it makes you increasingly irrelevant to the board! Remember, know when to stop or else you'll cross the line and in this case I believe you are so far off the line, it becomes a dot to you brother!

Thanks,

Chuck and Kim
