Hi All,

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum. I didn't know where it would sit as it covers a couple of questions.

Please bare with me whilst I provide a bit of background to my questions. Nearly 9 years ago I met an American whilst travelling. I ended up going out to the States on a 90 visa waiver, where we got married. I then left (before that expired) to begin the visa process back in the UK. Sadly he cheated on me an we broke up and the visa application was withdrawn.

Fast forward 9 years and by strange coincidence I was contacted by a man who I had a long distance relationship with (again he was in America) 20 years ago. We started skyping last year and developed a relationship. He's been to visit me twice in the UK and now it's my turn to visit in him the USA. Things are going really well and for me at 42, I'm am hopeful at finding happiness with him.

My fears are around going through POE and the visa process.

I will I am asked, I will obviously tell the truth, that I'm going to visit my boyfriend, but is it likely my passport will flag up that past situation......a withdrawn visa? and if that does come up, is it likely to go against me, either at POE or when and if we begin our own visa journey. Is it just about being able to prove strong links to the UK, so they know I'm going home after 2 weeks?

My feeling is that so long as I'm honest about it in any visa application (K1 or other) that it shouldn't be an issue, but it's the POE for my 2 week holiday that I'm worried about.

I was going to bring a few documents which tie me to the UK, work and lease contacts etc, but I just wanted to get some feedback of anything else I should be mindful of.

I know that some people have had really bad experiences, so with all due respect, I'd rather not be scare mongered at this stage, just looking for helpful, constructive advice.

I'm aware that there is never a guarantee, I just want to be as prepared as I can be.

Thanking you in advance

Lara

You don't have a withdrawn visa but a withdrawn petition.  Two different things

YMMV

I know. I think it's more trying to understand if it flags up when my passport is scanned at POE when I visit on holiday. I just wanted to prepare myself psychologically if it does.

Also is it worth bring proof of ties to the UK when I visit, just in case.

Many thanks

It's always a good idea to bring ties to your country when visiting any other country, but especially the US.  They can and will deny anyone at POE if they don't believe you intend to leave, regardless of any past applications or petitions for immigration benefit.
