Hi VJ Community,

I am posting my cover letter that I am planning to send out soon with my I-751. I hope that some of you will find it useful and I am also happy to receive any suggestions! I'm in particular interested in your input for the following documents:

  • Exhibit 4, Letter to the IRS and printout from IRS website: Is this tax information necessary for them at all? In addition, our original signed letter does not have a date on it, we just filled out the paper our accountant asked us to 2 years ago.
  • Exhibit 9, Life Insurance: It's a signed enrollment form, at the start of the policy. There is no recent document for them. Could that be a problem?
  • Exhibit 12, Housing information: Do these documents explain our situation well enough to not to get an RFE for not having for example utility/rent bills?

Thank you!

I would imagine that tax transcripts are the most authoritative proof that shows you a) filed taxes, b) paid them, and c) filed jointly with your spouse.

That may be good enough but have you tried contacting the life insurance company to obtain a certificate of insurance or some other letter on official letterhead to prove that the policy is in force?

Hmm. This one might be tough. Similar to the advice I gave above, see if you can get the employer to write a letter on official letterhead to support your story that this arrangement is in effect.
