Hi,

My husband has filed for divorce last month and I have since changed my address and in that process.
I have savings and am planning on traveling to Europe for 4-5 months for a "self-exploration" and fun travel experience... will I find problems coming back into the US when I arrive back in 4-5 months if I don't have any ties to US (job, lease, etc.)? I won't accumulate more than 6 months outside of the US... although - does the time limit begin each new calendar year? Thanks. :-)

well, if  you and your husband is having a divorce before you get your unconditional gc you will no longer be entitled to a gc.

I've heard otherwise from every other source. Hmmm. As long as you can proof it was a bonafide marriage after the divorce it will be likely I receive it, no?
I'm asking if I leave to live overseas and come back within 6 months will it be a problem?

Not true.  She can file for Removal of Conditions with a divorce wavier.

You seem to know a bit more than me about this.
How come that so many people have to give up their gc then when they divorce?
If there is a divorce waiver, why arent everyone using it that are having a divorce on a conditional gc?

I thought that divorce waiver was only if the spouse had abused you?

The immigrant must show evidence that he/she entered the marriage in good faith.  No abuse is required for that.
