Now that we can apply online, can someone help me Iron out this small detail? 

 

When does the windown for applying open up? Does it open up at midnight the night of? If so, is it midnight eastern time which would make it 9pm pacific? 

 

I have everything ready on the account, just want to know when Ill be able to press submit. 

 

I feel like online removes the mistake of early filing, that alone should make everyone file online, since it wont allow you to file until you are eligible, just wondering if someone noticed the hour the submit button became available?

Interested in this too.

 

Most likely I'll apply in the afternoon, so there can be no issue. The last thing I want is to go through the process and then be denied because their system showed I applied the day before I was eligible.

Well, I applied at exactly midnight Pecific. 

 

Whats interesting is, I did check at 10pm Pacific and did find the warning for not being eligible has disappeared, so Im guessing the timer for all federal work related is set to Washington DC, which makes sense. 

 

I did decide to file at past midnight my time. 

 

I get why you are worried but I def dont think officers check for filing dates when you apply online, otherwise they arent using technology wisely when its easy to have the system do simple equation math and save officers a tax.

Best of  luck with your filing!  When I filed online earlier this year I didn't have to worry too much about the exact dates because I filed way past the 5-year eligibility rule, but I remember reading on  here that others had discovered that the dates online move at 1am EST.
