Just one piece of advice regarding NADRA birth certificates - make sure they do not check the "late entry" or "late registration" box.  That is only for people who did not have a birth certificate.  Depending on the specific case, having "late registration" on the NADRA birth certificate can be problematic.

"Late registration" means that the person did not register their birth within a certain amount of time (not sure what the rules are, generally it is a few days after birth, maybe up to a few months).

Here is an example:

A child is born, and the parents never formally registered the birth.  Child needs to go to school, so they make a birth certificate.  This birth is a "late entry" into the database, since they were not registered on time.

Late registrations are dubious.  How does USCIS know it is real?

NADRA is notorious for doing this with people.  I personally know people who have gone with their original KMC certificates (made a few days after they were born) and then NADRA gives them a certificate with "late entry" written on it.  This is ridiculous, since the person was not a late registration, but is now labeled as such.

So in your wife's case, she was born in 1992.  Let's say the NADRA certificate says "late entry" 01-01-2010.  USCIS/NVC sees this and thinks "hmm...this woman had no birth certificate or birth registration for 18 years?  how do we know this is even legitimate?"

my wife was born in 1992

date on certificate is oct 2017 - i just got it made few months ago

the Birth certificate has her father/mothers name on it with NICOP numbers and a lot of other detail

anyways, i have her original birth certificate from union council which is old and in Urdu - i also got this translated... + i have family registration certificate (FRC)  .. she did o/a levels so her degrees has no birth date on it ... but i will try to pull other school records

no where on any forum on website i see late entry as an issue .. i just saw some old posts from you only so maybe your case was a exception ?

what you are saying might be somewhat true in cases in cases with other red flags ?

anyways, i will carry secondary evidence to the interview.. hope it doesnt get rejected at NVC stage atleast

The US government should trust/recognize a document that NADRA issues regardless its late or not ... if they dont trust a official NADRA certificate why do they trust a passport issued by the government ? makes no sense.. nothing on NVC or US embassy pakistan website it says they dont accept late entry certificate

i am curious to know how many people do you know who have trouble with late entry certificate... i searched googled and saw no posts except you ..

would you mind linking ?

I spoke to an immigration lawyer, who stated that births that are registered late (as in, not within a few months of birth) always have the potential to raise red flags.

I know of one case personally that had issues, but they submitted school documents and affidavits to support the date of birth, and these were accepted.  That case may have been exceptional, but I still think it is wrong that NADRA writes "late andraaj" on birth certificates that are not actually being entered in late.

Considering that you have a lot of supporting evidence, I suspect you will be fine.

  • 1 month later...

Here is an example of what can happen with a late registered birth certificate.  This case was for someone's parent, but the same can happen with other relationships as well.
