It is probable that your case will go to administrative processing which can last for days, weeks, or months......but it is a good sign that they kept the passport.  Had the visa been denied during the interview, the embassy probably would have returned the passport immediately.  Now is the time for patience......

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

The US citizen can email the embassy, but it doesn't guarantee an answer.  Your on line status should change soon to either "administrative processing" or "issued"......

My husband was not told at the interview that we were refused. You know we did the CR1. He was also harrassed by the Pakistani guy in the interview.  It took maybe a week for it to say that our status was refused. Did they give you a 221 g? They may just want to investigate more. Hopefully you won't get refused like us.

The only thing anyone said that was mean was the Pakistani man kept saying to my husband, "And she has been married 4 times before, and you are the fifth?" with a sneer. He said it several times, then said in urdu,, "An American visa isn't everything." He answered in English, "I know." Nothing else was said that made him think they would deny him, other than the Pakistani man's attitude. They had their minds made up when he got there.
