Hi,

I'm actually not the one who will be needing the visa but my husband will be needing it.  We filed in November of last year but we weren't approved until June.  My question was is our deadline when we filed (November) or when we were approved (June) because I know you have a year to get everything moving and I am just waiting for my IRS Tax Transcripts (which of course the first time I did it they claimed they couldn't find anything on me so I couldn't make an account and now the site for online transcripts is down so I asked for them to be mailed to me which is 5-10 business days) Which brings me to my next question.  On the document cover sheet, they ask for federal income tax returns but they also ask for W-2s is that not the same thing.  I'm sorry if it's a stupid question I just wanted to make sure I was getting everything together correctly.  This I believe is our final steps we need to make and I don't want to forget anything in the packet or hand in the wrong thing.

Thank you for the help and sorry I am all over the place with my questions.

Your deadline i believe starts when NVC receives your documents and generates your NVC case number.

The W2 is different from tax transcript. You can request a copy of your W2 from your employer.

Once NVC closes your case they will then schedule an interview at an embassy. Then your husband will have to make appointment for his medical before the interview.

Hope I was able to helps. More seasoned VJers may be able to assist further.

Thank you for the speedy reply!

So what is listed on the document cover sheet is, Form(s) W-2, IRS Tax Transcript and Federal Income Tax Returns, I know there is a difference between W-2s and IRSA Transcripts but wasn't sure if there was a difference between W-2s and Federal Income Tax Returns.  If maybe it was another form of income tax returns like 1099 or something.

I'm just really stressed out about it because we opted to do this ourselves because we don't have the money to hire a lawyer right now but we have the ability to ask fellow CR-1 visa holders and who are going through the same thing.  So any bit of help is truly helpful for lack of a better word, thank you so much.

Interviews are scheduled with Consular Immigrant Visa Units that may or may not be housed at an "Embassy" or even in the same building as a US Consulate.  It's "Consular Processing", not Embassy processing.

For example there is no US Embassy in Montreal,Canada, Cuidad Juarez, Mexico, or Guangzhou, China, but those are the ONLY cities in those countries where a Consular IV Unit exists.

My husband is from the UK, I think he would go to the embassy in London.

His interview will be with the one and only Consular IV Unit in the UK, which happens to be at or near the Embassy in London, yes.

Visa interviews are a Consular function not an Embassy function.  The Consular IV Unit Chief works for the Consul General, not the Ambassador.

The "information" is for all who would read the thread, which amounts to far more people than those participating in the discussion.  ^_^

It wasn't my original question to begin with haha.  But now I/we know a little more than we did an 30 minutes ago haha.  Sometimes you feel like you can't get the right answers from google so I'm glad this site is here where I can talk to people who have real experience as well and informative answers.  I think it's more beneficial and rewarding

I was also not responding to you directly.  I was correcting another poster's terminology so it didn't confuse a reader whose interview would not be scheduled at an "Embassy".
