CAN’T PROVIDE PHILIPPINE PASSPORT IN INTERVIEW

Hi! I just received my interview letter yesterday and is scheduled on Nov. 6.. I read that a passport was needed but I can’t provide them since I just renewed it last week. We have our trip for next year in Feb and my interview letter was taking too long so we decided to renew my Philippine passport. Can you please help me and suggest what to do? Should I go to the interview without it? Or reschedule my interview? If i’ll reschedule it, how long will I wait? Thanks in advance!:)

You can attend the interview without the current/valid passport.  They really only want to see the passport to confirm any travel dates/stamps.  It's not a requirement that your foreign passport be valid when presenting it to USCIS at the interview, so if you have the expired one in your possession still, just bring that one.  If you had to turn in your expired passport with the renewal application---then just explain so during your interview.  

 

Even in the appointment letter, it states to attend your interview even if you don't have all the required documents listed so I wouldn't put yourself through the hassle of rescheduling the interview.   It's not like USCIS has never seen this situation before  , and they are able to confirm your travel dates through their own databases anyhow without having seen your actual physical passport.

 

Not to mention, since you still have a full month before your interview, there's a chance the renewed passport will be in your hands before then.  Best of luck during your interview!

Thank you!!! My old passport is with the philippine consulate and the release date is on dec 6.. my interview is on nov 6.. do i need any letters from the consulate that my passport is with them and get it notarized?

might help if we knew what visa you are applying for and country 

create a timeline

some countries would send the packet back to US

others would ask for more documentation and put u in AP

Did u copy the old passport before sending for renewal?

if so, show this

I have a copy of my philippine passport but not the whole passport.. just the first 3 pages. I am applying for US citizenship n400 and nov 6 is my interview. Will make a timeline. I just made this account..

It's good that you have the bio page of the passport at least (I'm assuming the other 2 pages show travel stamps?).  You can provide that at the interview if asked for.
