Initial request

I may be a little bit paranoid. I'm very sorry for asking questions that were asked million times here before. We got email saying they sent mail for initial evidence. Is this evidence is just the same evidence as for k1 or something more serious? Does that affect on my case really bad? What's happening to parole and EAS during this time? Is it going to be delayed as well?

It means there was an issue with one of the required forms and they cannot continue processing your case until that is resolved. They will send a hardcopy of the RFIE with details on what needs to be corrected or what was missing. It does not necessarily refer to anything from the K-1 visa process.

It's nothing really bad...plenty of people get RFIEs for minor things that are easily resolved.

Your AP and EAD applications are also on hold until the response is sent. If it truly is an RFIE (not just an RFE), then the clock resets back to 0 in terms of when you can submit a service request (75+ days). Anecdotally, only the timer for contact them about your case being out of normal processing is reset, but actually processing timeline seems to resume wherever it was left off when the RFIE response is received.

Thank you. Very informative.

That's the thing I don't quite understand. When exactly it goes back to 0? If a respond delayed?

If they send an RFIE (Request for Initial Evidence), then the timer they use to determine if it is past the 75 day mark resets to 0. This occurs on the day they acknowledge receipt of the RFIE response.

If they send an RFE, the timer they use does not reset. It pauses when the RFE is issued and resumes on the day they acknowledge receipt of the RFE response.
