Go to CBP deferred facility near you (find the list of places on cbp.gov) and have them verify what's in SAVE and update it if needed. That will get correct info to SSA and card in hand.

Make sure to bring passport and any other paperwork you have.

That is a good idea.  I did this quickly over the phone, but it would be best to see exactly what is in CPB system with my own eyes.

Sorry about the i-94 confusion :D
As @milimelo said though, it's about what's in the system, whether it's printed on an i-94 or not. So double checking the entry is still something that you can do at deferred inspection. That and as said, going back and actually looking at what exactly the employee is typing in and in what field. I've seen so many posts where they entered a middle name where there was none, spelled wrong etc etc. Good luck :)

And verifying the SSO clerk is typing in the correct info seems paramount.  They get so defensive when you ask them questions, but we will just need to stay firm.

Thank you both for your thoughts and advice!  I will continue to update this thread in case others have similar issues.

yes - they do.... and yet sooooo many of them make mistakes and/or give out wrong info. How are you supposed to know if your talking to one of the "good ones"??! pfffttt - they should realize that and not take it personally..

good luck :)

My name was too long to fit in the boxes in the system so the SSA had to verify my name with the immigrations. I received my card 4 weeks later. It's very common that they have to verify the info and it's not a nightmare, but a little frustrating perhaps. Don't worry.

Yes, our middle names are for some reason counted as  first names, so naturally I have three first names here in the US, no middle names. :P

It looked too funny on my i-94. My second middle name is Therese and that name was cut off due to too little space in the first name box, so my name was written down as: "Maria Sara The Svensson", wth? :D

And then the name I had on my very first SS card, that was a mess too! They had even less space in the box there so I didn't even get any space between the names and Therese was cut off even more, on the card it said "Mariasarat Svensson"..

Not that it mattered, I was just happy to have a SSN at all!

Well.. I'm not alone hahaha yes I have three first names as well... and I decided to hyphenate my last-name as married... omg.. I get "bless your heart chiiiild, that's a long name" a lot here hahaha

My first SSC was also like that...also my second name in Sweden is supposed to be hyphenated.. but the hyphen has fallen off somewhere along the way here..  and oh the headaches of signing up for anything... I go "make sure it's not entered as a middle name" everywhere and it's pretty much a 90% chance that they'll enter it as middle name anyway... geeee...

sorry OP for the short hijack.. has just been a real trip with all these names! :D

I had the whole first name and middle name combined issue at the SSA. The total b**** working there with a terrible attitude told me rudely and as if it was my fault that because of the combined names, I wouldn't be able to get an SSN until I straightened it out with CBP. Then handed me a letter saying my SSN would be mailed to me o.o I received it with no problem, says First name Middle initial Last name as it should, so I'm not sure why she said that to me unless she had "issues".

On that day though I did call CBP and the guy there was friendly, a nice change from earlier. He said the way CBP and SSA's systems interact, the first and middle names get combined into the first name field at the SSA and apparently that freaks out some of the less experienced clerks.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.
