My wife arrived into the us on 8/12 (K1) and we married on 9/5. We are in the process of collecting the things we need for AOS and starting that process. My wife wants to know how long we have to file for AOS? What happens during the process of AOS? Can the US kick her out etc? Just trying to get some general ideas. Thanks.

There is no deadline to apply for AOS but the longer you leave it the longer she is out of status. Theoretically she could be kicked out if the AOS has not been started (although in reality it's unlikely). Once the AOS paperwork has been accepted, she has permission to remain pending the adjudication of the AOS case. Obviously if it is denied then she must leave.

does she have a SSN yet? May want to take care of that ASAP as it'll be difficult when her 90 days are about to expire, and then she'd have to wait until receiving the EAD

Are there any statistics on the percentage of AOS that are denied?
