If something was seen on my fiances x ray " why did they not show her ? As we all pay for the exam and it should be available to her.

She should get a CD with the chest x-ray on it from SLEC. This is her copy.

I also wonder if they just play a numbers game on pass and not pass exams to keep GOVERNMENT number ratios ? Or are they TRULY concerned  about a persons health? As we know St. Lukes makes a fortune doing such exams. Its horrible my fiance spent 4 plus hours just to give a spectrum #1 test yesterday, its as if a assembly line and someone is failing to recognize they are all paying clients.

I'm not so sure that's the case here. They don't charge extra (AFAIK) for the tests. So it's actually more expensive for them. Or do they get reimbursed by the embassy...(I don't know the answer to this myself)?

In America TB results can be done in 24 hours ? , I wonder why not in Manila ? or would such cut into their fortune made ? 2 months wait is crazy !

I think you're referring to the TST. Sputum testing takes just as long in the US, and occurs when the previous result is positive or they don't have a conclusive result with the x-ray.

The 2 months is just how long the test takes. TB (and other contagious diseases) is something they take very, very seriously for immigrants.

It seems to me EVERYTHING involving a Visa is a Big Money Machine for all , even USA they make a fortune also with Visa process.

Maybe the medical facilities are making money, but who else is making big money? USCIS is (almost entirely) funded through its fees. While they do save money for the future, there aren't people swimming in money working for them (although I'm sure there are a handful of exceptions like in any large company or government agency).

Its sad because so many true and blue in love find its beyond affordable and it should not be such. Changes so badly need be put in place. Sorry to go on but my fiance and son rely on me and it scares me the  methods and cost of such. They have been in Manila for almost 2 months now, first delay was a police clearance that never showed up at embassy. First interview Aug 17 then Sept 5 , now this spectrum testing for 2 plus months. She lives in Magpet so impossible to go back and forth from her home. Now we are looking at Nov for interview.  I go on and on sorry !

True, I do wish the process was more streamlined and affordable. Change is needed, but I wouldn't hold my breath for any big changes anytime soon.

Larry, Larry Larrrry. My dear man. You're going to kill yourself before you even get the chance to finish this journey. Relax Man. No one has it out for you and Mira. This is the process and it's been the process for many years. It seems to serve SLEC and USEM as that over the years they are still working together. You have got to look at this differently than you currently are. NO ONE is out to get you or anyone else. The process millions of people through their facility. They are human and are doing the best they can and USEM seems to agree because they have not changed medical facilities in some years. Unfortunately, you have a number of issues that you have to deal with. This is an elephant that you're trying to eat and you won't do it in one bite. Sorry Larry. This is reality.  Like someone said you will have a CD with all her xrays on them so you to get either look at them, have another professional look at them or you can use it for a glass coaster.

I've heard that it is a high % that they make do the spatum test. Being that the USEM contracts with SLEC for the visa process, I'm sure that have a line item in the contract for the additional "needed" testing, which I'm sure the US taxpayer is footing the bill. USCIS is funded by fees, but Dept of State is not...

My fiancé had to do it. We've just past the 8 week mark. Now the problem is getting someone from SLEC to answer the damn phone. SLEC gave us 3 - numbers to call: 521-0020, 521-8647, 524-0478, all three just ring and ring from 8am to 6pm, after 6pm a guard answered and said everyone is gone home for the day... Does anyone have any other means of contacting SLEC? Is there an email? Not looking forward to sending my fiancé to Manila just to see why they don't answer the phone.

The expenses are racking up, my fiancé and her two kids don't live anywhere near Manila. So we did one round trip flight to Manila for the SLEC medical exam, with the interview scheduled for the next week. Had to cancel the interview. Everyone went home, kids restarted school. Did another round trip for the spatum test. Now looking forward to a third trip for, hopefully a negative result (if we can get in contact with them. Possibly a fourth round trip if the interview is not soon after the final SLEC medical clearance.

Dave !

Thanks for the reply.  Them not contacting you is a good sign she didn't test positive.

My fiance is just now taking her 3rd spectrum test. It's horrible , she gets there at 4am and the line is 10 blocks long. The financial burden has doubled for us also.  She has a date to return to St. Luke doesn't she ? They tell us they make one 2 months after 3rd spectrum visit ?

This is such a burden for us all. And to think all we want to be is together. I understand TB awareness etc. But only 1% of 100 tested have TB. And I believe it's a numbers thing also having so many test who should not and have no signs etc. But all we can do is Play and Pay along with the system. Surviving the next 2 months wondering is the worst of the worst to endure not along with added expenses. Take care
