How long after a case has left NVC for Montreal are we supposed to receive Packet 3 from Montreal? And how much longer until I should bother asking them if they sent me Packet 3 yet? :S I know it's only been 2 weeks for me but is that typical?

we received the letter from the NVC saying they received the file and were forwarding it to the Montreal consulate on October 14 We received packet 3 on October 27th with the letter from the consulate saying they receieved the file on October 18

If you check the timelines uner my timeline you should see everything that other have filled out and that should give you a good idea of about when you should get yours. Mine is as follows:

Date received at NVC 2006-12-26

Date sent to Montreal 2006-12-28

Date received at Montreal 2006-12-30

Date I received packet 3 2007-01-22

Date I returned packet 3 2007-04-16

The long period between receiving and returning packe 3 is I did the fingerprint version for the RCMP certificate.

For many it can be just a couple of weeks. I think I waited for about a month (my signature should say) and if you ask others (necrotica is one example I remember) ... well.. let's just say that it can be worst case scenario.

I tried calling them today. When I first called, I got a busy tone. When I called again, they were closed. The Montréal Consulate info needs to be updated. They're only taking calls until 4 pm Eastern, not 4:30. Also the promps say you have to press 1, then press 3, then press 4 if you have your case # ready to be able to speak to someone regarding fiancé visas.

shoot off an email, hopefully you'll have an answer quicker than a phone call.......since you have to wait til 2 to call.

We received our NOA2 at the end of January, but didn't receive packet 3 until mid-march.

Tried that in March. They never replied.

What throws a really big wrench into things is that I lost my job last week. I don't know how well that is going to go over at the interview if I don't manage to get a good job by then and the interviewer asks what I do in the way of work.

Can you get unemployment? Can you find an emergency joint sponsor? Or if those arent options did you already do the I134......signed as legal and true at the time u signed it......( i think you know where Im goin with this.......)

If you were closer , I'd come get ya and take u out on a good ole drunk !

Can't get unemployement (filed for it, though, but it's futile). My firing was considered "gross misconduct", and under Kansas statute, it disqualifies me, even though illness (disability-related), constant fatigue, severe stress, and my supervisor not working with me when I asked for help doesn't excuse it. I made the fatal (in a work-sense) mistake of not going to Human Resources with my issues sooner. Long story.

Luckily, yes, the I-134 things were all done in December, so that's covered. I'm just hoping that, at the interview, they either don't ask him what I do for work or that I have a good job by the time he has it. There's also no one that can sponsor us; all my family and friends are dirt-poor.

Do you happen to know how long the police certificate is good for? My fiancé got his in November, and we're coming up to the 6-month mark. If it expires in 6 months, he's going to have to get another one. *sighs* Heck, if ALL the documents expire in 6 months, we might be screwed, since I can't get another employer letter.
