How long it takes to get naturalization after getting 10 years green card

Hi,

 

I was petitioned by my wife in December 2013. At that time she was only permanent resident with 10 years green card. Therefore, my case took very long time (about 3 and half years) and I have gotten my 10 years green card on July 12, 2017 instead the 2 years one. My question is that do I have to wait for other 3 years for naturalization or just 1 more year (because I am holding the 10 years green card)? Because what I know is it takes a spouse only 3 years for naturalization, including 2 years of 2 year green card and 1 more year of 10 year green card!! Any helps, please !!!!!

Are you still married to her? If so, it's 3 years (total) since becoming a permanent resident. Otherwise it's 5 years.

 

The clock starts as of the date you first became a permanent resident...when you got a 10 year card doesn't matter. Look at the "Resident Since" field on the green card.

Yes. I'm still married to her. Does it mean I have to wait until July, 2020 to get naturalization interview?

When did you first get a green card (conditional or non-conditional)? Or just add 3 years to the "Resident Since" field on your green card.

But when did the wife become a USC? She was an LPR when he was petitioned. She may still be an LPR.

She became USC on June, 2016. After she got citizenship, we provided her citizenship to USCIS with hope to make my case faster. As I mentioned, I filed my case on December 2013 and became LPR on July 2017

July 2020 minus 90 days is when you can file for citizenship.

If you became an LPR in July 2017, then the soonest you would qualify is July 2020 under the 3 year rule (since you are married to a USC the entire time of being an LPR).

 

You can file the N-400 90 days prior to citizenship eligibility.
