Beneficiary Entry info on i-130

filling out the i-130 form for my wife and i am on number 45 (beneficiary entry info). The question is, was the beneficiary EVER in the united states?

 

- my wife is canadian, therefore she has been here multiple times as she lives right over the border. but do we need to answer yes or no as she does not need an visiting visa as canadians can visit all the time. 

 

then when it gets down to question 47 (passport number). Do we have to enter this information only if she has BEEN in the US? guessing that doesn't pertain to us as she did not need a visa to come here. we are waiting for a new passport number as she will be in the process of changing her name now so therefore the number will change. does that matter?

 

any info will help, thank you!

I'm not sure what the confusion is...? She's been inside the US, so she would answer yes.

 

Where it asks for passport number, she should enter her current passport number. While the answer to #45 is yes anyway, even if it was no, that only impacts question #46: "If the beneficiary is currently in the United States, complete Items Numbers 46.a. - 46.d."

I believe you are over-thinking this.  The fact is that she HAS been in the US........She also has a passport, so put the number of her current passport there..

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

definately am overthinking this. she is not currently in the united states, so therefore i do not need to fil out 46a-46.d

 

will anything be affected when she changes her passport number if she puts her current one on this form? or should she just file for a new passport when she changes her name (next week), and then we can officially file this.

Correct. At the time you file the I-130, if she is not in the US then you don't need to answer anything in #46.

crazy how the brain can misinterpret the smallest things! looks like i will put N/A in those next few selections (passport number, travel doc #, country of issuance etc...)
