[AOS] Received I-797 for outdated I-485 - Check question

Hi everyone,

 

Due to a pile of events I forgot to check before sending out my package if any of the forms had been updated. The I-485 I sent (albeit not expired) had been updated in January.)

 

I received a I-797 for this. The entire package came back. Most seemed processed in a way. It has been stamped and some thing penned drawn along the bottom. And things were stapled together too.

 

Now the question is, attached to the (wrong) I-485 is our check. It has been stamped on front and back.

Nothing was taken from our bank account.

 

Do we re-attach it. Or write a new one?

Did the exact same thing with my I-130 petition (that got changed last Feb).

 

I threw away everything (exactly what you got) and printed out again (with proper form) with new signature dates and new check with new date.

 

Along with the notice is another piece of paper that says to send a copy of the rejected notice back with the new packet.  

 

Completely separately I learned how they appreciate using a hole punch for two holes at the top of the paperwork so it can easily go into their folders.  Just research that topic in Google "tips for USCIS form processing".  Second time, I got the NOA1 back in two days from Chicago Lock Box.

Thought so :) think you got a good answer above. They stamp and write on the forms as they are going through them checking for complete and correctly filed packages at the lockbox.

Nowhere do they ask to redo the whole packet though.
All they ask for is to redo the I-485 form and put the green page on top.

 

I just want to avoid them cashing in both our checks if we are to send another one. If the stamping is their way of showing those parts are fine, then that would mean the check has been cleared and will be cashed once the I-485 is correct.

I'd hate it for them to send it all back to us again over the check. It costs us $40 each time to send it all to them.
