 My fiancé's K-1 visa 

" petition expiration date  expires August 15 

 Does that mean we have only till August 15 to get married  once she enters the US? 

  The visa itself  self is six months.

It means the approved petition, which is required for the visa, is only valid until that date. Once the visa is issued, she has until the visa's expiration date to enter the US (6 months from the medical or interview....whichever came first). Once in the US, she has 90 days to marry. Then you must AOS to get the green card.

 

Edit: And the I-129F's expiration can be extended by the embassy (either automatically or by request). Some people have had a few issues going through CBP after the petition's expiration date (but while the visa was still valid)...probably due to CBP not understanding it.

Yes. It's 90 days once she gets here. That's how long her I-94 stamp will be good for.

It means that is when the I-129F petition expires. But that has no any impact on your visa.

August 15 is the date your request for your fiancé to apply for a visa is good until. Since your fiancé has successfully obtained the visa now, the petition no longer matters. Your fiancé must enter before the visa expires. You must then get married within 90 days of the arrival date.

 

The visa expires November 8. Fiancé must put his or her feet on US soil before then.
