Hello..I need help, im new here. Got married to a german national here in the philippines almost 10 years ago and got divorced. Now im ingaged to a american guy and decided to marry in US. My problem is do i still need to file a petition for recognition of divorce decree here in the philippines? Help me please..:-(

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

No.  You would need to the the divorce recognized IF you wanted to marry in the Philippines.  But for the visa process and marrying in the USA the divorce decree (translated into English) is adequate.   You will still need to bring a CENOMAR/CEMAR, and it is fine for you to be shown married.. no worries.. the divorce decree covers that.

There is also a very recent topic with this same question.   Of course the answer is the same - No you do not need the Recognition of Divorce for the visa process.   CFO won't even give you issues, they will just want a copy of the divorce decree.

Visa chase and citizenship.. DONE!
