Should I notify my social security office that I have become a US citizen after I naturalize?

Yes u have to let them know that u are a USC now, bring your naturalization certificate to the SS office they will request it as proof if you change your name you will get a new card with your new name on it

Thank you! I am planning to apply for a passport right away and heard I will have to trade in my naturalization certificate when l do. Will the SSO be ok with my passport then? I am not going to change my name.

I'll suggest you to go first to your SS office I won't take you long and then go ahead an do the passport because you have to send your naturalization certificate good luck and congratulations

UGH...this is on our summer list of fun things to do too. May I make a suggestion: Plan on getting to the SSA office at least 1/2 hour before they open. We arrived midday for Joan's first experience at SSA. Imagine the theme from Jeopardy for HOURS while we waited our turn. We arrived before they open for her second go-round. We were about the 12th in line and were in and out in less than an hour total!
