How far behind is the Baltimore office, I filed for AOS in June 2017, got an RFE at the end of August pushing my case back.

So I am basically 3 and half months in, any timeline on when to expect an interview, already have my EAD approved in November.

Why she can not renew the drivers license?

so what I've seen is anywhere from 7 to 12 months. RFE usually do not delay the case, when we spoke to IO at Baltimore, he said that appointments get scheduled based on the date the case came in, and when the FBI check is done.

they are asking for proof of her status... her EAD expires in 2 weeks, new one was accepted on 9/15 and not yet processed. GC decision is still pending.

As far as i know you can renew the drivers license with the Notice of Action if you are under one of the categories eligible for extension for up to 180 days

well I have heard that even USCIS online case status system is very unreliable now, so I am not surprised. We are going to the office in a few days to see what's going on with our case. When we were in the Baltimore office, officer said that they are in between 7-10 months of submitting AOS, ubt it is only his words...

Haha... his words are more than anything else I have heard regarding AOS in Baltimore recently so that is better than nothing to me :)

well yes - this is what though i"ve figured out. it takes them 2-3 (TOP) month to get your AOS case fully ready & processed. It is just those interviews that are taking so much time & there is a huge line in there...

That is what we have been seeing.

I am nervous, if we get an interview, making sure we plan our schedules around attending. We have a couple of trips planned out of the country and my husband has begun travelling a lot for work. I work in healthcare (I will get the day off but it causes chaos when I take unplanned time).

I get anxious not knowing what is going on. Haha. I am more of a planner and obviously there is no control over the immigration process. Haha.

I know the feeling - should be all good though! I wonder who makes a decision on the interview waiver - Baltimore or NVC?

Hey Piff,

My husband was able to get his Maryland license with only his NOA1 for his I-485. They just looked him up in the SAFE system and it was a really easy process, no hold ups or questions. He was able to get a temporary license for 10 months while waiting for his EAD to be approved. He did this at the Annapolis office this past September.

Not sure if that would be the same for the GC process.

oh, so the initial I-485 receipt is enough - that is good to know. we are going back there tomorrow to re-apply. Thank you!

Yeah the I-485 was enough, in fact I believe my husband said they didn't even ask for it because they looked him up in the SAFE system. He obviously brought all his immigration paper though just in case. (I guess its some system the DMV can use to check immigration status and progress).

My husband was confident it wouldn't be an issue because he swear he found a post on visa journey that it worked in Maryland. I was thought for sure it wouldn't work. He was right and got his license without anyone questioning him or giving him a hard time.

Good luck! Hopefully you get someone that knows how the procedure works, if not, make them ask a manager or something because Maryland gives out temporary licenses for the I-485 process.

Hey Guys

So an UPDATE from a friend who is still going through this journey, but it might help especially in terms of timelines.

They filed April of 2017 - doing AOS from a work visa to GC through marriage.

They done Biometerics end of April (3/4 weeks later)

An RFE middle of May on the i485 (6 weeks after submission)

According to there Attorney, they have been told to expect either an interview or a waiver decision by February, 10 or so months after they filed.

I received this information after a phone call with MY ATTORNEY, when i asked her about the next steps after my EAD

Also, for people who are stressing out, USCIS can tell in 2/3 months if your case isnt strong enough, once your EAD comes you almost guaranteed that your AOS is going to be accepted. She said its rare now that you get to interview and rejected, they may ask for more info at the interview or say they want to check something but don take it as a bad sign.

I hope this kindof helps,

Merry Christmas
