Hi all, I'm hoping you can help me.

I am the beneficiary, and my fiancé will be my sponsor when it comes to the I-134 handover at the interview stage, there may be an issue which I'm hoping someone can clarify for me. Basically, my fiancé has some unpaid taxes (around $1500) that she is paying back on a plan that was set up by the IRS. So it's all under control - it's not like there's just an unpaid bill sat there. She makes way above the poverty line, so I'm not concerned there, but does anyone know if the unpaid taxes will cause us an issue at the interview/I-134 stage?

Thanks in advance, apologies if I'm asking a previously-answered question.

They look at the tax forms as a way of seeing your yearly income. They do not look at your debt for taxes, mortgages, loans, credit cards. To my knowledge, it is only for the citizenship application that they will ask you (immigrant) if you have ever failed to pay income tax.

Use an employer letter and some pay stubs instead of a tax return if you are worried about it. London will approve a K1 without a tax return.
