My son's IR-5 Petition for us parents got approved in 3 days. We have some questions, we will appreciate if someone can give us some ideas about it...

QUESTIONS:

1.Do we need to wait for the Consular Dept. to contact us or we can contact Consular Dept. directly? (Petition filed in US Embassy Manila)

2. My son work here in the Philippines and not earning so much. Do he need to submit an affidavit of support or just ask a  relative in USA to do the job?

3. We are planning to live in California. Are 2 affidavit of supports better? one from California and the other one from Guam.

Thanks so much.

Has he been filling US taxes  and does he have a residence in the US ?

No, never got back in USA in 17 yrs.We enrolled him in a Kindergarten School then,  now he finished his college and almost 2 years working in a company. No residence in the USA but we have relatives in California , Hawaii and Guam.

The purpose of the visa is to reunite parents with their citizen children in the US.   It seems there is no need for the visa because you are united already.  You will need to overcome this issue before you go to the interview.  It doesn't matter how many other relatives you have in the US ( unless one is a child of yours )

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Where is your son living ?   If he isn't living in the US when you interview you won't get a visa as there  is no reunification to happen.

Yes, but the main intent of my son's petition is to maintain the unity of the family, we're afraid if he will go alone family separation will happen.

Thanks so much for the ideas, don't you think our relatives affidavit of support will not help unless it's from my son's?
