We are processing K1 and K2 Visa. NVC has sent NOA2 Paperwork to Guangzhou and Case says Ready with April 3rd as the last status update (On CEAC site). Today is April 13th

So now we are waiting for the Packet 3 to arrive. I was hoping that one of the experts that went thru this experience before could simply confirm that I understand the process below:

1). After Packet 3 arrives we need to send 3 things back to Guangzhou Consulate: (1). Confirmation receipt with barcode number from the completed Form DS-160 2). Two passport photos for K1 and K2 applicant 3). Color Scan of Passport of both K1 and K2 consulate. Is there some advice how to send this back so it arrives at the Consulate fast?

2). Then we wait for Packet 4. When it arrives this is when we find out the interview date??

3). After Packet 4 comes: Pay Medical and Visa Fee via Citic bank?, Do Medical Appointment for both, I get her the entire Paperwork to take to interview.

4). Interview

Thanks so much...

Unfortunately I can't answer your questions. We also had Guangzhou status as "ready"for about a week. We have not received packet 3 either. Don't even know if it's sent by mail or email. Although status now says "Administrative Processing" so hoping that means they are in process of sending Packet 3. Waiting anxiously.

Hopefully someone will come around soon to answer your questions as it will be helpful to us as well. Jia you!

Hi!

Do either of you know how the "packet 3" comes? My fiance's address will not accept mail, so can they email him? If it has to be mailed, does it come by courier?

PS Also going through Guangzhou

We got packet 3 by courier mail. It took a few days after Guangzhou consulate received it. After they reviewed Packet 3 for two days which needs to be mailed back, we then got Packet 4 just yesterday China time via email which gives you instructions to download and set appointment.

Suggest he contact the Guangzhou consulate to see if other arrangements are possible. Inside packet 3 is copies of the original I-129 application with marks on it and an approval stamp on it which you need to send back. I'm guessing this is why they need to mail to you.

Ok thank you so much! I'll follow this thread in case either of you have any good updates to share :)

I'll have him call Guangzhou and see if they can send it to his office. That would probably be better.

Appreciate the help and any updates you want to share!

You're welcome. Will do. My current feedback is it goes very fast once they send Packet 3. Response is very quick. If I don't give you feedback on GZ interview please remind me. We will be scheduling it today. Good luck to you both.

I spoke with my fiancé this morning. She mentioned for Packet 3 she only needs to send back the cover letter from consulate, ds-160 confirmation page, two photos, and a copy of her passport page. So problem for you might be having to send the consulate cover letter they send you. She didn't send back the I-129 back.

On packet 4 you have to setup profile online, then go to critic bank to pay visa fee, then you are allowed to book appointment. She booked May 17th due to not being able to book physical in Shanghai Hospital until May 5th. They say it takes 5 business days to get results. Hope this helps.

@ShanghaiSurfer

How did the interview go? I hope it's good news :)

We FINALLY got someone at the Consulate who could help and it appears they are now sending packet 3. The status is in AP.

Any tips/tricks about going to Guangzhou for the interview? Thanks for your feedback :)

Hi Ashley,

Glad you got someone to help out finally. It went well. He just handed her an approval letter and said good luck. I left a consulate review which you can read on the Guangzhou consulates:

http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=China&cty=&dfilter=5

One thing I forgot to put on was he asked her if we have ever been married previousy or if either one of us had children. My only tip would be to schedule an early morning appointment as you don't have to wait long. Answer questions confidently. Have all the material ready. Very little of it was needed in our case. She also expanded on some of the questions. For example. She explained when I started coming to China when he asked how long we know each other. They did ask for the latest tax returns before going to the interview area. Let us know if you have any questions.

Our status now says Application Received. My understanding is this is what it goes to before visa is issued. Fingers crossed.

Good luck!

Billy

Hi again @ShanghaiSurfer and @dmatosin! Have either of your partners received the passport back with their visa yet? We are waiting on packet 4 and I'm wondering how long from approval to visa in hand (in the last few weeks)? Thanks for your help!

Hi Ashley. It says "Issued" last Friday on system. Says if we don't receive it in two weeks then to call them. Haven't had any notification from  CITIC bank about it being sent to Shanghai but it was Dragon Boat Holiday. Hope to hear something this week.

Update. She is picking up her visa from CITIC tomorrow. It took 22 days from interview date to get passport in Shanghai. It took 12 days from the ISSUED date to receive passport. Good luck Ashley.

Thank you so much for the update! Rob has his interview next Tuesday! We are a little confused as to what he will do without his passport for 10-22 days considering he is a foreigner and is required to have a passport on him to be in the country. Hopefully the officer can figure something out for him. Thank you again for your help during this process. Congratulations and I wish you both a lifetime of happiness!!!

This is my same concern. As a foreigner, how do you get back from Guangzhou to Shanghai after the interview? Does the consulate provide some sort of temporary ID that Chinese officials will accept?
