Hi Everyone,

 I am so excited I'm ready to burst! My boss agreed to give me me ten days off in June and I'm going to visit MS!! I haven't seen him since October and cannot wait to see him !!!!!!!!!!

I bought the airplane ticket today! And he's really excited, too - already planning our week. It's only an 8-day trip, but I'll take it! I cannot wait to see him!!! We've got lots to do while I'm there, but I really want to sit quietly with him each day and make time stand still ... if I can.

(L)(L)(L)(L):star:(L):star:(L):star:(L):star:(L):star:(L):star:(L)(L)(L)

I'm also thinking about the NOA2 which I hope to receive in June. Since I'm flying to Istanbul, perhaps I should prepare/type all the NOA2 forms in advance - those that I can - based on what the embassy website indicates. MS doesn't have a well functioning laptop or printer. If I can prepare these forms and bring them with me, then he'll just have to sign them and make copies. At least, we'll save costly FedEx delivery charges.

This will be the last time I see him before his interview in Ankara. Any suggestions or thoughts about what I should bring or prepare in advance??

Thanks so much!

Aloha,

When we get our NOA2 in May, that is exactly what I intend to do. I'll get to see Joan and I'll also have the peace of mind in knowing the paperwork 'got there'.

My fiance and I were planning to meet in Istanbul last year, but things sort of fell through at the last minute and I went to Egypt instead. I still hope to get there with him very soon. Have a great trip and definitely take the forms with you! I had a nightmare with Fedex and very much wished I could have hand-carried them to him. Too, I don't know if you'll be staying in a private home or a hotel, but I have a great hotel recommendation in Istanbul if you need it. The owners are very professional and it is a great place.

You can do the rest, but I would check about this part. If the filing of a K-1 through Ankara is similar to the filing of the CR-1, then you do NOT want to bring the original documents with you to Turkey .(such as the marriage certificate, or his birth certificate....if you have it with you in the US)

The reason being, the NVC will most likely ask you to submit the "originals" to them. And , if they are in Turkey, and you leave them there, you are just going to have to mail them back.

When you file a petition for an SO from Turkey, the NVC treats it differently than many other countries, and it actually asks you to submit originals of the birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc......

I didn't file a K-1......but an IR-1. But I have a feeling that the requirements, being it is from Turkey, will be the same. I could be wrong, so you need to look into it before you end up bringing them all to Turkey.

Have a nice trip. It's a nice time of year to be there. (I once went in December, and me being from Florida.......it was freezing!!!! :o )

Thank you for this list - the specifics are really helpful!

I woke up at 3am this morning ... Wait!! What about all the other documentation? I should bring copies of our emails plus the calling card bills, online airline tickets, FedEx receipts. This means that I'll be bringing a second suitcase to Istanbul with our "proof of an ongoing relationship" documents.

I've read that other VJers organize their documentation in a binder. I think that's a great idea! But MS and I talk 3x-4x a week and email daily. Thus printing out all the emails and putting them in binders concerns me a lot. MS is not going to be interested in lugging 15+ kilos of documentation to the interview. He simply won't do it.

I'd rather have too much at the interview in case it's requested (e.g., Nervous Nellie) and he's more about bringing just what's needed. Since neither of us knows what will be needed ...

but I really want to sit quietly with him each day

In the noisy, hectic , city of Istanbul........................that's going to be tough ;)

Personally, there's a LOT in Istanbul to see and do, and the Bosphorus area is especially nice..........

But , I've always favored the southern part of Turkey, along the Mediterranean. It's quite a long drive from Istanbul, to get there.............but if you could ever manage it (maybe on another trip , if not this one)...I would definately recommend you take a few days to go see that area.

Just the natural beauty alone, is worth the trip. It's much more tranquil than Istanbul, and a totally different kind of atmosphere.

My wife and I have always talked about how one day, maybe when we retire....................we'd love to be able to buy a home down there, to spend the rest of our days.........by the sea......and the mountains......

If you want "quiet"....................that's the place to be......................not Istanbul
