Next step? Waiting for your NOA1 so you can track the case, then waiting for the NOA2 (approval) or an RFE. From filing to NOA2/RFE is currently taking close to 90 days on average. Then the approved I-129F goes to NVC, then the embassy. That process takes roughly a month. Then your fiance can apply for the visa (DS-160) and will get a packet with what they need to do (medical info, additional forms needed, etc.) and an interview can/will be scheduled.

After the NOA2, the petitioner should send a copy of all documents sent with the I-129F to the beneficiary (in case something gets lost on the way to the embassy). You should also include a copy of the NOA2, the I-134 + supporting documentation, and additional proof of an ongoing relationship (including the time after filing). How long it takes at the embassy is embassy specific. It could be a month, it could be several months. Some are busier or more difficult than others.

The entire process from filing to visa in hand is taking roughly 6-8 months or so currently. Some get it in a little less, and some take even longer.

Thank you so much!

USCIS's website did not mention anything about me having to complete an affidavit of support... in fact, I was told, that the form I-134 was not needed until my fiancée and I apply for adjusted status...

Do you have any information on this?

The I-134 (Affidavit of Support) is not required at every embassy, but the vast majority do require it. It is not needed for the I-129F, but it is needed for the visa interview. This one only needs 100% of the federal poverty level and 1 year of tax returns. The I-864 for AOS needs 125% and 3 years of tax returns (it's also legally enforceable unlike the I-134).

While you are waiting for the NOA there are some things you can have your fiancé do; get birth certificate (I suggest 3 copies)

Things you will need, but not until you are at the NVC or NOA 2 stage:

*Certificado de soltería (singleness certificate)

*Police certificate from the National police - (this has an expiration so don't get it too soon)

*I-134 and if you need a cosponsor because you don't meet the poverty threshold get that form ready.

* At least 12 passport sized photos. Those are needed for the Civil Surgeon appointment as well as AOS. Cheaper to get them in

Nicaragua so...

If applicable:

* Any marriage certificates if you've previously married as well as Divorce certificate which can be obtained from the Central Civil Registry in Managua

Let me know when you get to the waiting for interview part, I can send you a copy of the packet 4 which the embassy graciously emailed to me. Good luck on your visa journey and let me know if you have any questions; I would love to help in any way I can
