We are gathering the information needed for my husband’s ROC.  Is it worth including a statement about why we are not on the same medical insurance?  My Company does not allow coverage for a spouse who has insurance available to them thru their employer.   He could include me on his plan however his company changes a monthly penalty for covering a spouse who is eligible thru their own employer.   He was covered on my insurance for about 8 months after we married until he was eligible for coverage thru his employer.  My thought was to include the cards from that time, with a statement explaining why he is no longer covered/ we do not share coverage.

We have a good amount of evidence over all, just wondering if this absence of shared medical insurance needs to be explained or just leave it out altogether.

I appreciate any advice.

Sounds a non issue.

You do not need to ask your company for anything.  There is no requirement to have health insurance anyway (if you want to pay the penalty at tax time).

The list of REQUIRED documentation for the ROC is very small.  The proof of a bona fide relationship is different for every single couple.  While most of us have the same basic info - each case is different.

So don't worry about it.  No need to explain.  Many companies refuse to cover spouses if the spouse has another line of access available to them.

Good luck!
