Senator intervention (split topic)

Old thread, but will post here instead of creating a new similar thread.

My NVC scan date is 18 Oct 2016, and at the end of the 7th week was placed in "Supervisor Review" in response to a call from my lawyer, then received a checklist 5 days later.

The checklist is in error because it requests Australia Police Clearance Certificates, which is not required according to the state.gov web site - I do not currently reside in Aus, and did not spend more than 12 months there (10 months only).
a) the country of current residence (if different from nationality) if they resided there for more than 6 months .
b) any previous country or countries of residence if residing there for more than 12 months

Regardless I applied and received the Aus Police Clearance.

The lawyers called and sent written response with the checklist requested Certificate, which was received by the NVC on 16 Dec 2016, and were told that we can expect a 6 week wait.

My employer/petitioner, with the assistance of the lawyer submitted an application form for assistance from the Kentucky senator McConnell, and hoping this will move things along a little quicker, as others have reported here.

The senators office replied to my lawyer informing that the NVC have expedited my file and the consulate will be contacting within the next couple of weeks.

How can I track the package shipping to the Consulate?

Status changed from "CURRENT PROCESSING SITE: NVC" to "CURRENT PROCESSING SITE: JOHANNESBURG"

I think I'll call the Consulate on Tuesday to find out when I can schedule our medicals and the earliest interview date.

Kind of curious to see how yours goes. I got to the NVC w a scan date in early august. My due date was thanksgiving day, so I called in the following Monday to see what was going on. They told me the review wasn't finished and they'd push it up for supe review which was completed in early December. Waited and finally got an interview date assigned 12/28/2016 for 2/9/2017. It's been a PITA but the light at the end of the tunnel is near.

Our Timeline:

Met the woman of my dreams: 7/5/2014

Married the woman of my dreams: 1/18/2016

First child with wife born: 6/6/2016 (yay!)

K-3 to CR-1 Visa Processing:

4/11/2016:   I-130 Sent

4/13/2016:   NOA1

8/26/2016:   NOA2

9/20/2016:   NVC Receipt

10/4/2016:   NVC Case # Assigned (My birthday woohoo!)

10/4/2016:   Submit DS-261

10/5/2016:   DS-261 / AOS / IV Bill Recieved
10/6/2016:   Paid AOS & IV Bill

10/7/2016:   Send AOS & IV Package

12/15/2016:  CC @ NVC

12/28/2016:  P4 Received

12/9/2016:   Interview Date Received for 2/9/2017

2/9/2017:     Interview Result: Approved

2/14/2017:   CR-1 Visa Received (Visa in Passport)

2/21/2017:   US POE Entry @ LAX

*Sarcastically* Trucking along thanks to the dedicated and hardworking individuals at the NVC. Brings me delight to finally be able to say, the light at the end of the tunnel is near.

The NVC responded sharply to the Senator, and sent my case file off on 20 December and delivered to the Consulate on 28 December without scheduling an interview.

I've been calling the Consulate, but all the staff that deal with immigrant visas have been on holiday until today - I called today and was given their earliest appointment of 21 February 2017 on the phone, with the promise of an email confirming to follow shortly.

Once I have the email appointment, I'll get the medical exams done and then ask to be placed on a waiting list in the event of cancellations etc.

I had my interview in the Johannesburg Consulate today Tuesday 21 Feb 2017, and was approved.

I was asked only one question, "what's the name of your US employer", answered that, and shortly after was told my application is approved and passports will be returned using DHL in about 7 days.

Does anyone here know the typical time to receive the passports, and is there a way of contacting DHL to pay for next day service?
