Hi,

well ive got all my aos forms ready to go, just waiting on the wife to finish getting her income proof.

im in a quandary though, I have to provide proof of a relationship which I can through affidavits and stuff, but most of what you should send I.e prof of financial co mingling. You need a social security number for.

how do I get a social security number ? Can I get one before all the forms are sent off ?

thanks

mark

You'll have to either wait for the ead or the green card to apply for the ssn, whichever comes first

I don't know what bank you have but Bank of America had no issues adding me to my husband's bank account without a SSN. They seem very immigrant friendly, maybe you and your wife can open up a jont account there.

You don't need social security to get a joint account. You and your wife can open an account with just her own SSN. Same goes for life insurance policy. Otherwise you can use joint lease of apartment and car ownership.

My husband and I ran into the same problem, we were unable to add me to his bank account as I do not have a social security number. I assume I will be getting an EAD before the interview, so as soon as I get the EAD I will get a SSN and we will add me to his account. We will then bring this into the interview as additional evidence. That's our plan.
