Hi all,

I have a question on the translation at a port of entry. My mother passed the interview :) Although I was able to accompany her to the interview and an interpreter was indeed provided there, I'm not sure if an interpreter is provided at the port of entry. I'm worried because my mother doesn't speak English and I may not be able to travel back to and enter the US with her. What do people do in such circumstances?

CBP has access to interpreters of nearly every language. You will need to provide her with a note that explains this and lists the language(s) that she speaks. It will take a bit longer than usual to find an interpreter but in all likelihood, if all her paperwork is in order, she doesn't have to speak to anyone. CBP does this all day every day and they manage.

Good luck.

It's CBP's problem to find an interpreter. Don't worry, they won't send her back just because they can't communicate. They will do their best to find one if they need to talk to her. Usually, they just process the immigrant and hand them back their passport and that's it. Only really need to speak if there are problems.
