I am an US citizen I just got married to my husband here in Morocco. When I return to the US in a couple weeks I plan on filing for the spousal Visa. I've done a lot of research and looking around different sites for information so make sure I do things right. I was going to file with rapidvisa.com but upon looking at reviews I concluded that it would just be wasting money and with all of your hep I could do it on my own. So please I guess I'm just asking for any tips, tricks, anything really to make my visa journey as smooth as possible. Like maybe a checklist for the I-130 packet? What are the different stages after my I-130 packet is received? What is the total cost of filing for this visa? How long does it usually take? Really anything will help!

Thanks again. Can't wait to hear all the tips and great successful experiences of yours.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

I'm using Rapidvisa, and pretty happy with it, their site is very convenient, and they are quite helpful, but of course you can do it yourself.

You can read the CR1 Guide here on VJ, it covers pretty much every step.

Do you think Rapidvisa makes it easier? The reason I decided not to use it wS because I'm on a tight budget and can't afford the $420 for the app and then another $400 something for rapidvisa

Well for us they did a good job, cause we triple checked our petition before sending it out to them, being sure that everything is OK, but they have found 3-4 obvious mistakes, that could get us an RFE. So that's aroung 2 months of saved time. Now we are on NVC stage, and again they found couple of mistakes in our package.

And of course the most convenient feature is that they are offering payment plan, so anyone on tight budget can use it. We make 6 payments of 190$ during 6 months for USCIS Fee and their fee.

You will need to pay NVC fees later during the process.

But once again, majority of the petitioners did everything on their on, it's up to you to decide.

The fee is being increased on December 23 to $535.00. It would be wise to get your petition in before that date.

CR1 is very straightforward. All those questions you asked? The answers are here in the guides. At the top of your screen is a link to GUIDES. I suggest to anyone, before you start read about what the entire process looks like and what is needed. Don't wait till after the I-130 is approved to start asking what is next. You should know the process from beginning to end. I've seen people stuck at NVC because they didn't know there had to have a sponsor who make a certain amount etc. So read, make a list/timeline for yourself. Read all form instructions. Almost all forms come with an accompanying instruction document. Download all forms from USCIS, not random websites. Come back to the forums whenever you're stuck. Good luck.

CR1 is not very hard to do yourself at all. Everyone here is helpful and the guides are great.

They have a step by step guide for each phase and it's all very simple.

Just fill the paperwork right and have enough proof of relationship and it's all fine.
