Packet 3 tips

I was wondering if anyone has tips on how to prepare packet 3. My fiancee thought it would be a good idea to write the NVC case number (BNK...) on the outside of the envelope. Is that a good idea? Or does it even matter?

Also, she plans on mailing it using Thai Post EMS. Is there a better service?

That what I do too for my fiancé package is to write NVC number on the outside which is a good idea.

There is a overnight EMS for Thai post if you want it faster.

The only thing we did is put everything in order as it was requested in the Packet 3 Letter. As far as putting your Case number on the outside of the envelope, I don't think it would really matter and besides, I guess I wouldn't share those numbers with everyone that handles the packet. My fiancé did however attach a post-it note on each corner of every document and put our case number on it. We figured that if it got missed placed it could easily be found again.

I am not sure where you are sending your packet from, but my fiancé sent our packet in the morning with EMS but didn't overnight it. It actually arrived at the Embassy the next day. Its always good to have a tracking number.

Thanks so much, guys! Did either of you end up using one of those overpriced translation services near the embassy? My fiancee says some of these places are quoting as high as 2500 baht per page. (What?!) They apparently put some sort of official stamp on it. I call bull.

Based on what I've read on the USCIS web site (and here on VJ) you can self-translate as long as the following certification is present:

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and [enter appropriate language] languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled [enter title of document].
Signature
Typed Name
Address
Date

for birth certificate, single status and house register; you need official translator. But for thing like chat log, email etc. you can use that format for translation.

We did get her Birth Certificate and Single Status Certificate Translated. We did NOT pay 2500 baht per page! I think the place we went it was about 500 baht per page. You will also want to check their work after its been translated. No one is perfect and you will want to make sure everything is correct. You can try to put that statement on your document and see if it works but, I on the other hand didn't want to risk it. Good Luck!

FYI - Packet 3 does say Certified Translation.

I pay 1200 baht for all 3 document to translate. 2500 baht per page that is a rip off.

no need to go to translation services if you are able provide translation in this format, even for birth certificate

Thanks! Looks like you guys were really well-prepared and sent in Packet 3 quickly. I'm guessing that sped up the process for you. We're still waiting on a case number from the NVC. (It's been 24 days since NOA2.)

Hoping to have the Thai police clearance within the next 2 weeks. My fiancee is also working on getting vaccines at the Thai Red Cross ahead of the medical exam to avoid paying 3000+ baht at BNH. I'm glad that she's taking care of things while we wait for the Thai and US governments to process our paperwork!
