Yes, my wife will be filing a few months from now, and I am currently going through the instructions and the form itself. Just a few questions hoping someone can help me with.

1. Part 10, Item 8, Letter A -Legal name of previous spouse - My question is, are they wanting the name on the divorce papers or their current name now that they might be carrying.

I was married twice, but many years ago the first marriage in 1967, divorced in 1971, second marriage late 1971, divorced 1978. Both of my previous spouses have my last name on the divorce decrees and not their maiden names, so not sure what name the USCIS is looking for, I am sending in the copies as it is requested.

2. Throughout the form when completing the zipcodes for addresses, I do not know the last four digit code of the regular zipcode, how important is that or if I dont know, can I just fill it in with zeros. I am referring not to the first 5 digits, I am referring to the last four numbers of the zipcode.

Thank you for your assistance

they are checking to see if you have previously bought in additional spouses thru immigation

some people do this for payment / illegal, yes, but it is done

they will also check your background to ensure these former spouses did not file claims of abuse

I forgot this

more than 2 divorces is suppose to be a red flag but i know a man who was divorced 4 times and able to bring in his Russian gf on K1 / i suspect he only reported the most recent divorce and got away with it

Not sure if you understood my questions, both previous spouses were born here , they are U.S. citizens. My first divorce ended in 1971, the other one ended in 1978.

I understand what you are saying why they want names and divorce decrees, what I am asking is, do I give them their maiden name before we got married, or my name that they got after we were married. I am not sure which names they are looking for, their maiden names before marriage, or my last name after we married??

thanks again

Maiden name makes more sense. With your last name, you are only essentially giving their first names, those don't really identify them.
