Is she here now? Or waiting to get her visa to move here? Assuming she's here now...

Taxes- you don't have to do anything, but it would probably save you money to update your tax status with your employer from single to married, filing jointly.

Social security- nothing to do.

Insurance- are you referring to medical insurance? Auto? Or what? If medical, then I'd strongly recommend adding your wife to your insurance w/in the next 90 days (I think that's the general time limit when a "life changing event" takes place).

My husband wasnt able to change anything except for taxes to married Separately and indicate as NRA for the SSN part. since you would need Tax ID number( IRS site have info on how to get one) or SSN to file jointly. Mostly tied up with SSN so even tax deductions from work remain single. US doesnt keep a marriage registry as well from foreign country so no need.

You should file for her an ITIN ( Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) through the IRS website, if you plan to file taxes as married, filing jointly. I did my 3 years ago when I was living in the Philippines with my filipina wife.

Concur with Robbie. You can file taxes with ITIN request married filing jointly or just file taxes married filing single then do ammended return once she is here and has ssn.

I did the same thing, married in Philippines in January, we're still waiting for Case Complete from NVC.

I changed my tax status to married.

If your wife isn't going to be here before the April tax deadline, then you won't have an SSN for her, she'll need to file for an ITIN which you'll use as her taxpayer identifier on your tax forms instead of SSN.
