What does it mean when the CEAC website updates your status date?

Our status (for K1) changed from "at NVC" to "in transit" on October 18, and then from "in transit" to "ready" on October 19 (that's right, only ONE day afterwards). We assumed that our case was already at the embassy, but on Tuesday I wrote an email to the embassy asking about our case and on Wednesday (October 26), they wrote back saying they still don't have our file at the embassy. I asked them about the CEAC ready status, but they wrote back on the same day with the exact same answer. I also called NVC and they confirmed they'd sent our file to embassy on October 18, but couldn't tell me when it'd arrive.

Since then, the CEAC website has updated the date of our status to October 26 (that's the day the embassy wrote me two emails).

My question is, WHAT does a change of date on CEAC mean? Some people here say they update their dates whenever they answer to one of your emails; other people say they update only when they actually look at, review, handle or update your file on the system. But what does it really mean?

I'm going insane with this. I just wanna make sure that our file is safe. Answers from someone who has a reliable source (not just pure speculation) will be appreciated!

If you long in to your IV application . On the top of the right side will show where your case is at .. either Spain embassy or NVC.. you CEAC will stay in ready untill the interview day . That s when it will change to issued or administrative processing or the other words nobody likes to know about.. when the dates changes on CEAC .. that means you case was touched..

Did the NVC provided you with your case number and you invoice ID yet...

Yes, they did. For K1, I think we are supposed to wait for packet 3, as each embassy is different.

It does sound as if your petition has arrived at the embassy. I'd give it a few days and email again.

Thank you
