Question for the fellow Brits out there.

What is in packet 3? And what has to be sent back? When I went on to the embassy website, it doesn't say anything about a packet 3. Instead, it talks about filing the DS-160 online, doing the medical, and scheduling the interview.

Please can someone clear this up for me???

its all online ..think theres 4 steps to follow online . have you got nvc number ?

Not yet. I am trying to get everything ready for when the embassy eventually receives my application.

Is there anything that I could be working on right now? (Before I have the NVC number)

Also, is there anything else that I could do once I do have the NVC number, but before the embassy receives the petition?

you can fill out your ds160 , save each page as you go through it .. as soon as you get ceac showing ready you can book your medical by phone .. do not wait to hear from embassy .. you will get a letter eventually but go ahead and get medical done .. are you up to date with all vaccinations ?

The only vaccination I am missing is Varicella (chicken pox).

I have requested my police records from ACRO. I felt like that was something that could be done and out of the way whilst I wait.

Here is my plan:

1) As soon as I get my NVC number, start to check on ceac everyday.

2) Once it says that it is on the way to the embassy, file DS-160.

3) Once it says ready, schedule my interview.

Anything else?

I requested them from ACRO today. I have paid for expedited processing and shipping so they shouldn't take too long.

police cert and a ready on ceac and you can book medical .. paperwork from beneficiary and file ds 160 pay fees for visa and courier service .. good luck youre almost there !

September 23rd -Case status 'Ready.'

October 04th -My Fiance received what I assume is 'packet 3' in the mail.

It was dated September 30th. And basically said:

• London had received our approved petition, to refer to their website for instructions on how to prepare for the interview and how to schedule the appointment.
• Stated that it also included a copy of the approved I-129F form. (Just the form, not the entire packet.) - this was pretty cool. You see the giant APPROVED stamp on the top of the first page.
• Included a pamphlet 'Information on the Legal Rights Available to Immigrant Victims of Domestic Violence in the United States and Facts about Immigrating on a Marriage-Based Visa.'
• States how you still aren't fully approved yet, don't make any travel plans.
• States all the information on your case to include, should you need to contact them. (Beneficiary's name, birthday, visa type, LND# etc.

Nothing needs sent back, it just tells you how to proceed.

This is the paper my Fiance used to enter the Embassy for his interview.

I believe they also accept your Interview confirmation that is emailed to you after scheduling it.

I know this is a late response, but to back up Tiery you can print out your confirmation page from your scheduled interview and they will accept this. Not everyone receives 'packet 3' anymore. Not sure why, but it is a common issue because before they went all digital not everyone received their packet 3 in the first place when it was paper only.

Hi there. Packet 3 is actually kind of like a welcome letter. It basically was a document saying ''hey your case is at the embassy, you can do all your stuff now''. The language of the letter can all be found online these days, and there is no real need to wait for it, especially since you can call the NVC after a while and find out your case number and track it. Sometimes packet 3 would never even show up. You could show it to Knightsbridge, but they will accept a screenshot of ceac saying ready. There is no need to wait for it, and the process is updated now. It's the same thing with packet 4, which was the letter confirming your appointment. You can make your own appointments now.

Things to do? Well making sure your police certificate is in order. Making sure your required vaccinations are in order and that you have proof to show Knightsbridge. Your fiancé should be sending their I-134 along with financial support evidence to you, so that you can take it to the interview.

If you have had chicken pox as a child, you do not need the varicella vaccine. They take your word for it at Knightsbridge. Varicella is not routinely given in the UK anyway.
